Takafumi Ochiai Selected as a Member of the PRC Group of Voters of GAIA-X, a Leading European Data Space Policy Organization
Takafumi Ochiai (*1), Head of the Policy Research Institute, has been selected as a member of the PRC Group of Voters (term: February 2026 to January 2028) in the election for the Policy Rules Committee (PRC) of GAIA-X, a leading organization in European data space policy.
GAIA-X is an international non-profit association (AISBL) established under Belgian law, providing a framework for data sharing and cloud infrastructure.
The PRC is a committee responsible for policy and rule-related matters within GAIA-X. The PRC Group of Voters, to which Mr. Ochiai has been elected, is composed through an election process related to this committee.
The election was conducted among representatives of GAIA-X members registered with the PRC, with 22 candidates competing for 21 seats. Mr. Ochiai was selected as one of the members.
Regarding this appointment, Mr. Ochiai commented as follows:
In the election for the Policy Rules Committee of GAIA-X, I was ranked 4th out of 22 candidates and selected as a member.
I believe this reflects the results of ongoing discussions with leading experts in Europe and other regions. Along with my recent appointment to the executive body of the Asia Fintech Alliance, a federation of fintech associations from 15 Asian countries, I feel that our activities are increasingly being recognized not only in Japan but also internationally.
We will continue to strengthen our policy research and technology practice going forward.
