Takafumi Ochiai graduated from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University. Mr. Ochiai passed the (former) National Bar Examination while enrolled in the Graduate School of Fundamental Science and Technology at the same university. He worked for Mori Hamada & Matsumoto for roughly nine years, serving in both the Tokyo and Beijing offices, where he handled matters related to international disputes and insolvency, intellectual property, and overseas investments.

Since joining Atsumi & Sakai, Mr. Ochiai has provided legal and strategic advice to businesses in a wide range of sectors that include finance, healthcare, real estate, MaaS, telecommunications, broadcasting, and IT, as well as the establishment of new regulatory systems. He also serves in various advisory and executive roles for both government and private-sector organizations, including the following:
